The Senior Cadastral Surveyor is responsible for delivering high-quality cadastral and engineering surveying and mapping services across Council. The role involves planning, supervising, and coordinating surveys undertaken by internal teams or external consultants, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required standards. The position leads complex technical projects, reviews and endorses plans for registration, and ensures compliance with statutory and quality requirements. A key aspect of the role is mentoring surveyors through to cadastral endorsement in line with the Surveyors Board of Queensland’s requirements. The Senior Cadastral Surveyor also provides technical advice, liaises with stakeholders, and contributes to the development and continuous improvement of field procedures and work practices.
The Planning and Design branch is a dynamic group of professionals with a strong track record in the design and documentation of civil and civic infrastructure. As a surveying unit within the Infrastructure Services Group, we deliver surveys that support planning and design needs while balancing environmental and community considerations. We work across multiple Council program areas, contributing to major infrastructure, road and bikeway projects, library upgrades, landfill remediation, sports field developments, and flood damage assessments. Our diverse project portfolio offers exposure to a wide range of land types and complex scenarios.
To be considered, you will have:
- a Bachelor’s degree in surveying
- endorsement to complete Cadastral Surveys by the Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ)
- proven ability to lead and coordinate cadastral and related survey projects
- expertise in cadastral and engineering surveying practices
- strong skills in managing workloads and providing technical direction
- experience leading, mentoring and developing Surveyors
- a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget
- excellent communication skills and proficiency in relevant survey software
- a commitment to maintaining and applying professional survey standards and procedures
This role will require possession of a current “C” Class driver’s licence.
