Overview of our role

The Strategy & Market Development Manager plays a key, collaborative role in guiding the development, ongoing management, and annual review of the Jemena Electricity Network (JEN) market strategy. This includes nurturing the implementation of JEN’s 10‑year strategy, supporting electrification and grid‑modernisation priorities, and ensuring strong alignment with Group Strategy and Business Planning processes.

The role focuses on bringing people together across the JEN business to build shared understanding, create strategic alignment, and set clear expectations. It aims to thoughtfully balance customer, network, and commercial considerations so that JEN customers and stakeholders are well supported as the market evolves—helping the organisation confidently realise its growth ambitions in a rapidly changing electricity landscape.

This position calls for a commercially aware, empathetic, and strategically minded leader who can build trust and strong working relationships. The role collaborates closely with the JEN Leadership and Extended Leadership Team, as well as Group Corporate Strategy and strategy teams across other markets, to ensure a cohesive and forward‑looking strategic direction. 

A little about you

  • Proven Strategy role experience or experience in strategy consulting, electricity network, policy, or strategic planning.
  • Proven people leader experience and experience working in complex layered stakeholder matrix markets.
  • Large corporate experience at a manager level, with business accountability.
  • Sound knowledge of key operational, technical and/or policy aspects of the electricity industry.
  • Experience in market analysis or Product Management in the Energy or related industries.  

Qualifications / certifications & Skills

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Business/ Commerce, Economics, Engineering or Finance).
  • Knowledge of electricity markets and energy transition.
  • Understanding factors influencing the growth and evolution of energy markets and networks is desirable, with specific understanding in Australia.
  • Understanding of energy customers’ needs and preferences.
  • Understanding of energy regulatory frameworks and policy landscape affecting electricity market & networks.
  • Post-graduate strategy qualification desirable.
