Overview of our role

This opportunity can be based across Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney.

The Approvals and Stakeholders Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating complex regulatory approvals and stakeholder engagement activities across assigned pipeline projects.

You provide specialist project input, navigating multi‑jurisdictional approval pathways and managing complex stakeholder environments to support successful project outcomes.

You deliver high‑quality stakeholder management, meaningful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, land access negotiations, and community engagement across technically complex, large‑scale linear gas transmission projects, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, statutory, cultural heritage, land access, and environmental requirements.

You are also responsible for performing these duties in compliance with the ring‑fencing requirements applicable to the Functional Groups. 

A little about you

  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management; guiding and supporting specialist consultants and contractors through effective project management.
  • Experience navigating complex regulatory licence and environmental approval applications and amendments with diligence and confidence.
  • Proven ability to lead culturally respectful and inclusive engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, ensuring adherence to Cultural Heritage, Native Title, ALRA, and other legislative obligations.
  • Experience facilitating fair and empathetic land access, tenure, compensation, and third‑party negotiations.
  • Experience building strong, constructive relationships with relevant Territory and State Government Departments and Authorities.
  • Experience implementing thoughtful, community‑centred engagement strategies, supporting local content requirements, and managing complex dispute resolution with a calm and collaborative approach. 

Qualifications / certifications & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of pipeline regulatory requirements, relevant national/territory/ state legislation, and Australian/international standards. 
  • Strong understanding of stakeholder management methodologies, strategic approvals planning and risk mitigation. 
  • Knowledge of the Gas Transmission Industry practices. 
  • Understanding of how approval sequencing impacts project schedule and cost. 
  • Strong influencing, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills. 
  • State Driver’s Licence is a prerequisite for this position.
