Salary Range: (Band 5) $91,900 – $104,172 per annum plus superannuation

(Remuneration stated is for full-time positions)

Work type: Temporary full-time up to May 2026

Location: Brisbane CBD (office and work from home days)

The City Communication branch leads, develops, implements, advises on, and evaluates all external communication for the whole of Council. We are the first point of contact for all external communication and campaign queries. The branch delivers major multi-channel citywide campaigns, as well as marketing and communication for initiatives and services.

The Role

Working within the Marketing team as a Communication Officer you will assist Senior Communication Officers and the Team Leader to develop and deliver communication strategies, campaigns, and initiatives for a specific portfolio of programs within Brisbane City Council.

The role focuses on delivering advertising and collateral within multi-channel campaigns, in addition to providing strategic advice to internal clients on marketing and communication projects. An ability to work well with a broad variety of suppliers and stakeholders is key, as the role works directly with media and creative agencies, graphic designers, printers, distribution companies and merchandising suppliers.

To be successful you will have the following attributes:

  • ability to work and contribute within a team and values-based culture
  • strong communication skills including researching, writing, editing, proofreading and presentation skills, for a range of projects and audiences
  • ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders and customers
  • demonstrated ability in copywriting, editing, proofing, as well as briefing and managing suppliers to coordinate the production of collateral within set budgets and timeframe
  • ability to develop communication strategies, recognising target audiences, key messages, strategic approach, tactics, and timeline for delivery
  • knowledge of current communication and marketing issues and trends, and proven ability to use this to improve communication outcomes.
