Water Corporation is recognised globally for our performance and innovation to secure water supplies for Western Australia in a changing climate. We’re driven to manage water services sustainably to make WA a great place to live and invest. A role at Water Corporation can unlock the door to ongoing long term career development opportunities; we also support training and development, flexible work arrangements, health and lifestyle programs and generous company benefits. If you share our commitment, then consider Water Corporation as the next step in your career.
About the role
Our Aboriginal Communities Water Services (ACWS) program was established in July 2023 to manage the transition from the Department of Communities to Water Corporation for providing safe and reliable water services to remote Aboriginal communities. The ACWS program is a critical component of our Thrive2035 goals, our Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow sub-strategy, and the transformation roadmap. You will also support the State Government Strategy for remote Aboriginal Communities and the Closing the Gap Target for 9B.
As our Regional Manager ACWS, you’ll see how much impact your work has for Aboriginal communities. You’ll feel a huge sense of personal accountability for people’s wellbeing, and you know how much of an integral role you play in ensuring they have access to a safe, fresh water supply. You’ll help to deliver community and organisational outcomes and benefits, investment process governance and program management.
What the role will involve
You’ll support households and businesses with access to safe drinking water and fit-for-purpose water every day. You’ll partner closely with the Aboriginal communities, Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) and Department of Health (DoH) to ensure we are continually meeting and exceeding environmental and health requirements as well as community expectations. You will be responsible for the management of contracts with external Regional Service Providers who act as a delivery arm for service delivery. You will also be accountable for the delivery of capital upgrades in the communities. You take personal ownership, and your work doesn’t go unnoticed.
Then there’s the other side to this story, your team
You’ll ensure your team have everything they need to do their best work, helping to remove obstacles and supporting them through challenges. Helping them become the best they can be in their roles. Working as part of our high-performing Country Regions leadership team, you’ll play a big part in Water Corporation’s future and strategy and collaborate with peers across WA to jointly raise the bar on operational excellence. This is a fulfilling role where everything comes together. You have a complete view of what’s happening across the region.
You understand why water is such a vital resource and why you’re an important part of the fabric of this community. Like most jobs, this role has its challenges. Your organisation and planning skills will be continually fine-tuned so that your people and the work they deliver add value. Maintaining assets across WA, your calm manner, and agile thinking will help your team effectively manage issues and respond to customers with a can-do attitude while keeping safety front of mind.
About you
Whether you’ve worked in water, gas or power, your operations background paired with a relevant degree or relevant experience and strong understanding of regulatory requirements and legislation will put you in pole position. Your understanding of how relationships between government, local businesses, customers and community are shaped will help you hit the ground running.
Your demonstrated leadership, contract management skills, previous team management, and ability to collaborate, negotiate and influence with senior internal and external stakeholders will ensure success in this role.
Apply: If you are interested in the above opportunity, please submit a covering letter and resume that best demonstrates your ability to meet the requirements of the role.
