About the role
We are looking for a motivated individual to take on the challenge of the Senior Technical Advisor DWQ Treatment Planning role. This role’s primary function is to ensure all drinking water supply schemes are planned and designed in accordance with water quality treatment requirements and investment is prioritised based on risk. Reporting to the Team Leader Water Quality Planning, this role joins a dynamic team of like-minded professionals and provides an opportunity to improve the public health of Western Australians.

What you can expect with this role
- Drive Statewide Excellence – through providing drinking water quality treatment advice and ensuring:
- treatment requirements are captured in asset investment planning and delivery processes.
- support for the regions with the identification of actions in the case of project deferrals, around drinking water treatment; and
- through the Corporation’s Water Quality Risk Assessment process, new capital/operational drinking water treatment projects are created to drive risk reduction.
- Shape Future Infrastructure – Provide expert guidance on design standards and treatment plant requirements to support the Engineering Business Unit.
- Champion Innovation – Lead and contribute to research and development projects that advance water treatment technologies and practices.
- Engage with Stakeholders – Establish strong connections with internal teams and external partners to ensure service delivery aligns with stakeholder needs
- Partner with the Centre of Treatment and Operational Expertise – Collaborate closely to inform performance reviews and define treatment requirements across facilities.
- Review and influence to continually improve policies internal and external to the Corporation including treatment standards, implementation of the Good Practise Guide, Surface Water Treatment Manual etc.
Your skills and experience
For this role, we are looking for great talent with:
- Tertiary Qualification in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline
- Expertise in water treatment process planning, design, operations, and troubleshooting
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills will be essential to this role. Your communication skills will be evident in written and verbal approaches
- Role model the values and behaviours that contribute to a constructive, high-performance culture.
- Desirable: Hands on experience in chemistry, microbiology, or associated laboratory and analytical services.
- Desirable: Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimise treatment processes in research and/or operational settings
- Desirable: Familiarity with simulation and modelling tools for system analysis and improvement
