Are you passionate about making a positive impact to our members dignified retirement? In this role, you will partner with the non-investment and finance related business units to implement the risk and compliance management strategy and execute the Financial Crime program.

The opportunity

  • Enable the effective implementation of the Hostplus Risk Management Framework (RMF) across all business areas, to support a rigorous approach for the identification and management of risks in processes.
  • Support the design and implementation of controls with First Line Process Owners.
  • Contribute to the development of a detailed 2nd line assurance plan in collaboration with the business units.
  • Support the ongoing implementation of the Hostplus Risk Culture Roadmap to mature the Hostplus risk culture and awareness.
  • Lead, develop and engage the risk team, ensuring that engagement, development and performance plans are in place and actioned.
  • Maintain transparent and professional relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, to enable two-way communication, monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Upskill the 1st line of defence to be responsible for their risks and controls, as well as encourage them to promote a desirable risk culture in their teams.
  • Oversee the uplift of the Risk GRC system - Archer, including improving functionality and reporting capability to drive data insights. 
  • Contribute to the annual Risk Management Declaration process.
  • Support business projects and guide decision-making to support risk-based considerations that are consistent with the fund’s RMF and business plan.
  • Provide input into the project management framework to continually improve risk management and reporting within projects.
  • Effectively challenge the activities and decisions that materially affect the organisation’s risk profile.
  • Manage and oversee the development and implementation of an on-going test regime to monitor and report on key controls for risk reporting purposes.
  • Support the preparation of reports for Board and Risk and Compliance Committee.
  • Drive and oversee the implementation of departmental and other key projects, as required.
  • Provide risk expertise and advice to strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Enterprise Risk & Compliance and Chief Risk Officer.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline. 
  • At least 5+ years in risk management.
  • Strong operational risk management knowledge and experience.
  • Effective understanding of CPS/SPS 220 and its commercial application.
  • Can demonstrate and has had, practical experience in the implementation, ongoing monitoring and reporting of risk program.
  • Ability to liaise with an manage external vendors. Experience in dealing with regulatory bodies (ASIC, APRA).
