Are you passionate about making a positive impact to our members dignified retirement? As Business Development Manager – Intermediary Distribution, you’ll help more Australians access Hostplus products and services by building strong, trusted relationships across intermediary channels in Victoria and Tasmania. By delivering a national distribution strategy and partnering with advisers, platforms and industry stakeholders, you’ll drive sustainable growth and better outcomes for our members’ retirement.


The opportunity

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with external financial planners, licensees and other related parties who select Hostplus and its products for their clients.
  • Undertake regular engagement with intermediaries such as financial planners and other stakeholders and position and reinforce Hostplus as a provider of high-quality, customer-centric, superannuation and other related services.
  • Assist and support third party advisories with client inquiries, requests and escalations, and facilitate effective resolution.
  • Provide one-on-one and group product training and associated ongoing support services.
  • Develop and maintain a sales and opportunities pipeline of prospective intermediary distribution partners.
  • Set and achieve sales targets, across the various measures, as specified.
  • Utilise existing intermediary, distribution and partner networks to identify opportunities for Hostplus growth.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Hostplus’ processes and services as well as sales focused collateral and marketing activities.
  • Actively and confidently lead sales and distribution participation in key trustee office forums as required, including projects directly impacting intermediary sales and distribution objectives and requirements.
  • Represent Hostplus at industry conferences, tradeshows, roundtables, and other events as required.
  • Individual portfolio management including completion of CRM entries in line with business rules.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the direct Manager, National Manager–Intermediary Distribution or Executive Manager-Advice Strategy.

About you

  • RG146 accreditation (mandatory), with tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and / or financial planning qualifications (such as a Diploma of Financial Planning or related postgraduate study) being highly regarded.
  • Extensive and applied business experience within the financial services sector, specifically intermediary distribution within the context of superannuation, wealth management or related financial services.
  • Demonstrated and successful track record in achieving sales, distribution and growth revenue targets.
  • Sound understanding of the workings and operating models and practices of financial planners and the broader intermediary environment.
  • Knowledge of the legislative landscape and associated impact on distribution and growth strategies.
  • An already established network of relationships within the financial advice community in Victoria.
  • A demonstrated understanding of and alignment with Hostplus’ for member profit values and ethos.
  • Experience as an RG146 of AFSL Authorised Representative.
  • Proven experience in sales, distribution and stakeholder management, with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confident presentation capability. 
  • Collaborative, adaptable and comfortable operating in changing environments. 
  • Well‑developed planning and organisational skills, with accountability for delivering outcomes. 
  • Strong focus on service excellence and consistent, high‑quality delivery. 
  • Ability to influence and lead others to achieve shared objectives. 
  • Analytical capability, with experience translating data into clear insights and reports for stakeholders
