Salary Range: AUD $551.80 - $1034.60 (20 yrs & under) AUD $1034.70 - $1241.60 (over 21 yrs) per week per 38-hour week, 9-day fortnight, 14% super, personal leave, 17.5% leave loading, plus additional tool allowances and uniform and all PPE provided. (Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

About the Apprenticeship Program
Council’s apprenticeship programs provide you with the skills, training and experience to develop a long-term career in the horticulture industry, by gaining a nationally recognised qualification, Certificate III Parks and Gardens.
As an apprentice you will get the training, support and mentoring you need to get involved in a range of tasks. You don’t need prior experience in horticulture to apply, you just need to be curious and motivated to learn.
The Role
High Profile Parks encompass a diverse selection of parks and gardens located in Brisbane's CBD and nearby regions. Gain hands on experience working outdoors in nature, with on-the-job training. Our dedicated team is responsible for the daily upkeep of these beautiful outdoor spaces, which includes tasks such as hedge trimming, lawn care, weed management, and the upkeep of playgrounds to provide a safe environment for children to play
We are seeking individuals with a genuine passion nor horticulture who take pride in contributing to our green, sustainable and vibrant city. This is an opportunity to build practical skills while working in some of Brisbane’s most iconic outdoor areas.
This is what your working day will look like:
- assist with maintenance of parks, gardens, and street scaping
- general clean-up, mulching, weeding, hedging, blowing pathways and picking up litter
- plant identification, control of weeds, pests, and diseases
- pruning, protection and planting of trees and shrubs
- safe operation and maintenance of horticultural machinery and equipment
- ensure outdoor areas remain well-maintained and inviting for visitors
You don’t need prior experience in the industry, but we want to hear from you if you:
- have a passion for horticulture
- take pride and ownership of your work outcomes
- are prepared and capable of performing a physically demanding job
- enjoy working outdoors, in nature and in all types of weather
- adhere to Workplace Health & Safety practices
- have good communication and problem-solving skills
- contribute positively and work cooperatively within a team.
Due to the nature of this role, it is desired that you have the ability to obtain a C class drivers licence with the view of obtaining a HR drivers licence.
