About the Division and Branch
Brisbane City Council’s Transport for Brisbane (TfB) division operates one of Australia’s largest public transport enterprises to meet the needs of Brisbane’s public, as well as visitors to our city.
With a fleet of more than 1,250 buses, 23 CityCats and 6 KittyCats, as well as contracts with eScooter providers, all helping to facilitate more than 240,000 journeys for residents and visitors to Brisbane every day of the week. There are currently 40 Metro buses in Brisbane with the balance of the fleet, delivered through 2025.
Strategy and Network Services branch enables the division with health, safety and environment compliance, implementation of business and process improvement measures, advising and monitoring security, risk and compliance issues, network planning and scheduling, and operational readiness for Brisbane Metro. Strategy and Network Services continues to enable readiness for full implementation of Brisbane Metro and will play a pivotal role in the planning and implementation of Metro expansions.
The Role
Play a pivotal role as a subject matter expert to guide and advise a wide variety of stakeholders to minimise incidents, improve safety and reduce work-related injury and illness. Bring your expertise, guided by Workplace Health and Safety legislation and your people focus to mentor, coach and support, striving for a collaborative and human centred approach. You will work autonomously, in a small team of motivated on operational advisors, using data and trends to develop and implement improvements and lead projects to monitor, maintain and deliver across a range of projects to ensure best practice. You will investigate incidents, develop and present training opportunities, as well as provide guidance to onsite operational health and safety representatives, managers and staff.
Our team work at Brisbane Square, as well as varying locations across the Bus Depots, this role primarily support Carina, Willawong, Sherwood and Garden City locations and you will be required to work on site at varying locations to perform this role.
To be successful you will have:
- demonstrated knowledge of WHS and environmental legislation and standards with operational knowledge across a range of Workplace Health and Safety and environmental principles and practices
- experience in producing reports, analysing data to identify trends and propose improvement strategies
- experience in undertaking audits and investigating operational incidents
- proven ability to provide advice and recommendations, to a variety of stakeholders
- ability to develop and present training and education programs to an operational environment.
