Our Business

Infrastructure Services (ISG) brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance and transport operations activities.​

Our Branch

Asphalt and Aggregates oversees the management of Council's quarries and road surfacing operations, including the laying and repair of asphalt pavements, minor pothole repairs and road line marking. The branch consists of three core business units: Road Resurfacing, Asphalt Production and Quarries. 

The Role

The Assistant Laboratory Coordinator role at Brisbane City Council's Bracalba facility involves supervising technical and operational functions within the laboratory. The position focuses on maintaining high-quality production control and certification testing of quarry and asphalt products. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with Integrated Management System requirements and NATA certification standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • lead customer-focused interactions, treating all customers with honesty and dignity
  • support the Operations Coordinator in efficient laboratory operations to achieve optimal outcomes
  • prepare reports, provide technical interpretations, and ensure audits are conducted accurately and on time
  • monitor production schedules to maintain standards of quality, cost, and timeliness
  • implement and monitor plans for Workplace Health and Safety and Environment requirements.

 To be successful you will have:

  • strong ability to contribute to team direction and achieve performance standards
  • demonstrated knowledge and experience in construction materials testing
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with team members, customers, and stakeholders
  • proficiency in software, spreadsheeting, and data processing tools
  • sound understanding of Integrated Management Systems and NATA certification requirements
  • experience using Geotester is highly desirable.
