Our Branch  

Support Services provides Council's key support services under a centralised model. ​The efficient back-of-house support ensures more resources can be focused on Council’s front-line service delivery.​​ 

Employee Services is part of Support Services and is made up of two core functions – Recruitment and Payroll. We work together to ensure accurate, timely pay and employee lifecycle support across Council. 

The Role  

We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Payroll Officer to join our team. This is a very exciting time to join whilst we undertake a payroll transformation over the next 18 months. 

Reporting to your Team Leader, you will be responsible for processing high volume payroll and time data, employee action forms, and recruitment and contractor requests. You will also maintain a strong customer service focus by responding to a range of payroll-related queries and tasks. You’ll be a key contact within the payroll department, ensuring that actions are completed accurately and on time.

To be successful you will have: 

  • established experience in administering payroll functions in a large and complex organisation. 
  • knowledge of human resource management systems in relation to payroll functions 
  • demonstrated experience in preparing and processing high volume transactions/data with a focus on accuracy
  • experience understanding and applying relevant agreements and legislation requirements.
  • good communication, interpersonal and customer and stakeholder relationship skills 
  • ability to provide advice and problem solve on a wide range of payroll issues 
  • good organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.
