Salary Range: Band 5 $95,346.00 - $108,078.00 per annum + 14% Superannuation 

(Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Our Branch  

City Legal is a specialist provider of legal services to Brisbane City Council. We provide a comprehensive range of cost-effective legal services, adding value to Council's core business and major projects. 

The Role  

An excellent permanent opportunity currently exists for a newly admitted solicitor or an early career solicitor to join our dedicated friendly team. 

Provide a range of legal advice and services focused on commercial and contract advice, drafting of construction and major project contracts and contractual dispute advice. We review and draft Council local laws, delegations and related instruments, develop Council policies and governance and provide legal advice and guidance to a variety of areas regarding Council projects. 

The Solicitor City Legal will work across a wide range of legal areas, with a particular focus on general commercial law and decision-making for our infrastructure projects such as Brisbane Metro and funding agreements for festivals across Brisbane City. 

The key to this role will be your eagerness to learn in addition to your superior communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. You will truly enjoy the rewards of working in a supportive team providing front-end advice work in a fast-paced environment whilst being challenged with varied work. 

To be successful you will: 

  • be admitted to practise as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland 
  • hold, or be eligible to hold, a current Practising Certificate from the Queensland Law Society 
  • be thorough and systematic 
  • possess excellent communication and negotiation skills 
  • have exceptional attention to detail 
  • have excellent research skills 
  • maintain a positive attitude, strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
