What if you could do the kind of work the world needs?
At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.
WSP in Australia's Geo‑Environment team is solving some of Australia’s biggest challenges. We are preserving and enhancing our built and natural environments, finding smarter ways to use and re‑use resources, and designing safe, future‑ready infrastructure that supports thriving communities.
This is your opportunity to lead future‑focused solutions with a strong emphasis on flood resilience, stormwater design excellence, and climate change adaptation. You’ll deliver sustainable engineering outcomes on some of the nation’s premier projects, supported by the latest innovations, digital tools, and multidisciplinary expertise.
What you’ll do:
In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in strengthening our national surface water capability, including:
- Undertake surface water assessments and designs to support the Civil/Geotechnical design team for projects in the Waste Management, Mining, Renewable Energy and other Industrial Development sectors across all regions in Australia and internationally.
- Leading and delivering surface water and flood risk assessments, including hydrological and hydraulic (1D and 2D) modelling.
- Managing multidisciplinary projects from planning through to detailed design, ensuring technical excellence, high‑quality deliverables, and exceptional client experience.
- Preparing and reviewing high‑quality technical reports, environmental assessments, design documentation, and detailed stormwater infrastructure design packages.
- Providing mentorship to less experienced engineers and contributing to a collaborative, high‑performing team culture.
- Driving innovation in flood resilience, climate change adaptation, and sustainable water management.
- Applying strong capability in stormwater design, including ownership of design packages and detailed stormwater solutions.
- Leading or contributing to business development activities, proposals, and client relationship growth.
- Leveraging experience in Dam Break analysis and Consequence Category Assessment (CCA) to support key water infrastructure projects.
About you:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, ideally complemented by postgraduate training in water resources.
- 8+ years' experience in water resources engineering, with a strong track record of delivering complex projects.
- Demonstrated strength in stormwater management and detailed infrastructure design.
- Prior experience working in managed fill, mining, and/or industrial environments, including operationally focused projects with regulator interfaces.
- Deep understanding of NSW and Australian water management frameworks, guidelines, and permitting.
- Experience in erosion and sediment control (highly desirable).
- Proficiency with industry‑standard hydrology tools (e.g., RORB, XP‑RAFTS, WBMN, AWBM) and hydraulic modelling software (e.g., TUFLOW, HEC‑RAS, XP‑SWMM/STORM, DRAINS).
- Experience with water resource management and water balance modelling (GoldSim or similar desirable).
- Skills in GIS and CAD platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo, AutoCAD/Civil 3D).
- Previous consulting experience with strong communication, collaboration, and client‑facing capability.
- Experience delivering flooding, drainage and water quality studies for environmental assessments and infrastructure design across varied sectors.
- Prior exposure to Dam Break and CCA assessments will be well-regarded.
- Experience preparing high‑quality proposals and supporting business development.
- CPEng or equivalent industry recognition (advantageous).
