The Opportunity

As we’re striving to define and grow our advisory capability, including in the areas of urban and regional planning, precinct planning, strategy and social sustainability, we are looking for a Lead in our Cities Team in Melbourne.

This is a senior role that will provide leadership to multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of complex precinct projects.

Specifically, you will:

• Lead a team to deliver strategic advisory services relating to site acquisition, new development feasibility studies, precinct master-planning, urban renewal, transit-oriented development, and urban economics
• Work with master planners, urban designers, infrastructure engineers, government officials, and the public, to create optimal solutions to develop our cities and drive reform, precincts, places and spaces
• Work with government agencies and private developers on both brownfield and greenfield precinct development
• Manage your own projects with revenue of $100k-$10MM
• Foster strong client relationships and play a significant part in work winning initiatives
• Proactively identify high potential talent and foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing that generates long‐term learning and development of capability
• Be innovative in how WSP provide solutions to complex client challenges

What we'll love about you

You have a strong understanding of the built environment and the economic, social, and political factors that can influence the planning and precinct development process.

You’re likely to have 15+ years of experience in planning, urban design, architecture or development and have contributed to projects of varying value.

You will also bring experience or skills in:

• Managing multi-disciplinary design services and providing advisory services
• Taking projects from early planning (incl. master-planning) through to delivery
• Urban re-generation projects
• Applying Smart Technologies and concepts in precinct development
• Setting and achieving effective business, financial and profitability goals
• Communicating win-win negotiation positions to influence and persuade all parties (e.g. private/public utility providers and the provision of infrastructure for precincts)
• Taking decisive actions in complex and difficult negotiations
• Compelling leadership style with the ability to inspire, motivate, encourage and influence others through a socially impactful style
• Market eminence and positive client experience endorsement in the VIC market
