Whether you are local to Bunbury or you may be looking for a sea change, this fixed term opportunity as a Team Leader – Occupational Safety & Health until 9th May 2025 may be for you.

But your work doesn’t stop at just Bunbury! You will immerse across all parts of the Southwest Region. 

From the rolling hills of Bridgetown, to being surrounded by the Karri Forest in Pemberton, to the unspoilt coastline along Margaret River. From Waroona, Collie, Augusta, and everywhere in between, these picturesque places form part of your office on the road!

Forget about having a mundane 9-5 desk job. This role is very balanced role working in office and field-based across the region. There will be extensive day travel within the region, and occasionally travel to the big smoke Perth to participate in forums.

A valid Western Australian driver’s license will be required for this full-time role.

You will lead the local OSH team to support and coach the Southwest Region in a multitude of various Safety and Wellbeing initiatives and focus areas.

You will play a critical lead role in the development and implementation of strategies, planning, processes, and initiatives to continually improve the Southwest Region’s occupational safety and health culture and outcomes.

From annual business planning to ad hoc strategies and improvements, this role will have you juggling proactive and reactive tasks. You may have incidents which requires your ability to investigate, report, and quantify improvement strategies and support to prevent occupational incidents from occurring.

You will play a vital key to lead and guide your team in exceeding in performance.

While you will work autonomously as Lead, you will also play an influential role within the wider business on certain safety matter and working closely with our Perth central OSH team.

Your first few months will be adjusting to the new role and getting a comprehensive understanding of our business.

You will meet your key operational stakeholders across the regions to get insight into the work we do, focussing on the high-risk tasks we perform, and ultimately work with these internal stakeholders on what their needs are to ensure safe delivery of works.

 

The fundamentals of the role:

Participate in OSH risk profiling including assisting with hazard management and trend monitoring.

Coordinate the preparation of reports to ensure compliance with Corporate, Group, region, and legislative requirements.

Coach regional managers, supervisors and other personnel on their OSH responsibilities and accountabilities relating to their roles and support them to fulfil those accountabilities.

Facilitate and coach staff on technical aspects of work practices and procedures to support work outcomes including assisting with safe job planning.

Undertake audits (including compliance checks, equipment inspection, office inspections, and job safety visits) and participate in development of action and improvement plans to address identified deficiencies, and ensure actions are tracked and monitored.

Act as local user expert for OSH systems including Sentinel.

Act as competent breathalyser operator as required / directed.

 

Ideally, you will possess the following:

  • Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent.
  • Tertiary degree would be advantageous.
  • Experience in ICAM methodology.
  • A technical background along with transferrable OSH experience.
  • Computer skills, using Microsoft Suite.
  • Very confident and engaging communication and teamwork skills.
  • The willingness to work full-time, travel, and represent our Southwest Region Work Health Safety team with the utmost standards.
  • Valid WA “C” Class driver’s license.
