Personnel Area: Transport for Brisbane 

Branch: Engineering and Asset Management 

Salary Range: $48 per hour incl 14% super (AUD 1,598 per week) + overtime, penalty rates + 17.5% leave loading + onsite gym, uniforms supplied, 38-hour week, nine-day fortnight  (Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Location: Sherwood Bus Garage, 8 km Southwest of Brisbane CBD 

Be part of a dynamic team that keeps our city moving smoothly. As a qualified Auto Electrician, you will play a vital role in efficiently maintaining, repairing, servicing, and troubleshooting electrical components of buses, machinery, and equipment. Utilising your expertise, you will work with diagnostic and technical tools to ensure the operational performance and safety compliance of our heavy vehicles. 

This role operates Monday to Friday to complete a 38-hour week with a 9-day fortnight arrangement. Your standard work arrangements are from 7am to 4pm with an option to start at 6am or 5am with associated penalty rates. There is also the option of moving to an afternoon shift, with its associated shift allowances and benefits. Overtime opportunities are also available. 

Transport Operations has a regular intake of apprentices throughout the year, and you will be required to assist, guide and supervise apprentices in learning their trade where required. 

To be successful, you will have: 

  • trade Certificate Level III in Automotive Electrical Technology (AUR30312) or equivalent 
  • hold current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence or the ability to obtain a Heavy Rigid licence 
  • demonstrated experience working with heavy vehicles or buses. 
  • high diligence, safety awareness, positive team skills, and timely outcomes.
