(Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions and effective from 8 October 2025)

The Role

As the Program Officer State Emergency Service at Brisbane City Council, you will take charge of coordinating the SES Support Group Team. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective emergency services across Brisbane. This role requires a strong commitment to supporting the BCSESU Local Controller, maintaining high standards of service delivery, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence within the team. The role requires strong communication skills to provide high quality correspondence and reporting to key stakeholders across multiple agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • lead and model customer focus in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders
  • coordinate and report on business deliverables including budget, program deliverables response activities, and projects as directed
  • managing and developing team members in the SES Support Group
  • assist in resolving complex and emerging issues, escalating to the Local Controller when necessary
  • develop, review, and enhance systems and procedures to ensure compliance with standards and regulations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in coordinating a team in a dynamic environment
  • experience in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • strong stakeholder management skills with a track record of effective communication and relationship-building
  • ability to work well under pressure, make sound decisions, and maintain high standards of service delivery
  • understanding of emergency management legislation and procedures, or a willingness to acquire this knowledge quickly
  • proven experience in fostering a collaborative team environment and driving performance excellence.
