Our Business
City Communication is made up of fun, hard-working communication specialists in brand, campaign strategy and implementation, digital marketing and social media, editorial, public affairs, and sponsorship. The team works in close partnership with stakeholders and program areas to provide strategic communication advice and coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of Council communication campaigns and initiatives.
The Role
Are you a creative and driven team leader with a true passion for media and editorial? Then this could be the perfect career step for you as we are in search of an experienced media relations or journalism leader, with strong project management and stakeholder relations skills.
The successful candidate will be driven by quality and have writing and editing experience to lead a talented team to deliver media strategies and plans, coordinate media and public relations activities and respond to media enquiries. Crisis Communication experience and the ability to provide strategic communication advice to key stakeholders and program areas is favourable.
Working closely with the Public Affairs leadership team, you’ll be at the forefront of creating innovative and industry-leading communication campaigns promoting a broad range of Council programs, facilities, and activities where no two days are the same, they will be challenging but rewarding.
You will lead a team of talented media and editorial officers and will provide leadership and senior specialist advice on media and public relations as well as content and editorial for online and print publications.
For business needs this role requires working full-time, 5 days per week and a scheduled on-call roster, where you will respond to out-of-hours media enquiries, across a seven-day period including evening, overnight and weekends.
