The opportunity

As the Head of Radio Networks & Device Engineering you will be accountable for leading the architecture, evolution, planning, capacity, performance, design, functionality and configuration of Radio Access Network for TPG Telecom. 

Reporting to the GM Wireless & Transmission Network and based in North Sydney, you will be proactively interfacing with the relevant technical and business teams to ensure E2E network architecture and ensure efficient end to end activities both locally and global.


  • Lead improvements and ongoing system performance of the Production Radio Systems Access network to deliver to TPG’s network/customer experience
  • Ensure and be accountable for driving, leading, and managing both direct, Vendor and Managed Service Partner teams of Architects and Design engineers for the Radio Systems Access network to facilitate required outcomes
  • Be accountable for driving, leading, and managing both direct, Vendor and Managed Service Partner teams of Architects and Design engineers for the Radio Systems Access network to facilitate required outcomes
  • Drive network architecture and planning to deliver to the requirements of the business and technical teams. You will lead the architecture, design, development and delivery of innovative business focused solutions to ensure great customer experience and efficiencies within the organisation
  • Provide Technical Leadership and expertise within the Radio Access network Architecture, Evolution, Planning and Design
  • Provide leadership for a team of Radio Network Architects and drive architectural network improvements in line with customer experience and business requirements
  • Implement new Technology roadmap initiatives to drive increased customer experience, speed to market and lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
  • Manage effective and efficient nominal coverage planning, delivering to the business requirements and customer experience
  • Manage frequency planning to align with the strategic technical and business requirements
  • Drive effective and efficient radio system optimisation
  • Manage the user equipment and user device evaluation, certification, feature and capability planning
  • Manage user devices/equipment in order to deliver to the requirements of TPG’s business
  • Ensure alignment of features and capability between user equipment and user device and all relevant technical domain solutions

Knowledge and experience

  • At least 10 years’ experience in Mobile Telecommunications Industry in the Radio Space, Experience in production networks is a must
  • At least 5 years applied experience in the managing or leading a team
  • Leadership by influence
  • Tertiary or equivalent qualifications in Computer/Electrical Engineering and/or telecommunications
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Commercial / business acumen
  • Analytical and planning skills
  • Comfortable in the management of complex technical matters
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proven problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent skills and experience in relationship management with customers, business, vendors and staff.
  • Must have a proven ability at coordinating multiple tasks simultaneously
