An opportunity has presented itself for a Freight Loading Engineer to join our national team.

What You’ll Do

Provide engineering and technical support for freight loading activities to ensure safe, efficient and compliant operations across a diverse national fleet.

Reporting to Train Systems Lead, you will:

  • Assess, develop and approve load restraint designs for non-standard freight
  • Provide technical advice and support to terminal operations and load specialists nationally
  • Conduct risk assessments and apply engineering principles to loading configurations
  • Support freight loading incident investigations, including root cause analysis and reporting
  • Maintain and improve Freight Loading Manuals in line with current practices
  • Track and analyse load incident data to identify trends and drive improvements
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and customers to deliver practical, safe loading solutions
  • Contribute to rollingstock and freight loading projects across the business

What You’ll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
  • Strong understanding of basic engineering principles and risk assessment
  • Experience in data analysis and interpreting trends to inform decisions
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to operational stakeholders
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong accountability
  • Knowledge of load restraint, compliance standards or incident investigations (desirable)
