Brisbane City Council are currently searching for highly motivated team members to join the Building and Construction Management Team, within Development Services. Our team ensures construction is completed in accordance with development approvals through proactive engagement and partnering with the construction industry.

The role

As a Building and Construction Liaison Officer, you will proactively monitor and audit development sites to ensure development is completed successfully and all relevant obligations are met.

Using your excellent liaison and negotiation skills, you will mediate between development contractors, neighbours and members of the public impacted by development.

This position predominately is field based however you will be required to attend the office (Brisbane Square or Council Regional Centre).

To be considered for the position, you will have:

  • a strong customer focus with proven ability to problem solve, negotiate outcomes and manage complex issues
  • well developed interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively with relevant industry stakeholders and groups across Brisbane City Council
  • excellent time management and organisational skills with an ability to meet deadlines
  • experience or the ability to manage, investigate and liaise with relevant personnel for customer enquiries received by Council about nuisances and issues of non-compliance associated with development projects
  • the skills to rapidly acquire knowledge of relevant policies, regulations and guidelines relating to development construction and built form outcomes
  • the ability to provide authoritative written and oral advice to various audiences and convey technical and complex advice in a simple to understand manner
  • experience within an engineering or similar discipline will be highly regarded as will experience as a project officer working to deliver construction projects.
