About the role

As Legal Counsel – Commercial, you will provide high-level legal advice, strategic thinking, as well as expert drafting and negotiation capability across:

• Large-scale construction-related contracts, including disputes
• Major projects and multi-disciplinary commercial matters for Council
• Senior legal and management support to the Senior Legal Counsel (Corporate Governance and Commercial) and the Deputy General Counsel

About you

• Have a minimum of 7 years post admission experience gained in construction and/or major projects. Candidates with more experience are also encouraged to apply.
• Strong background in commercial law, ideally with experience in construction, infrastructure or major projects
• Background or experience in intellectual property and information technology projects
• Ability to provide clear, strategic legal advice in complex matters
• Demonstrated negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Capacity to support and mentor senior and junior lawyers and contribute to corporate governance outcomes
