The Role
As a Development Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the end-to-end development application process within Brisbane City Council’s Development Services branch. This is not your average admin role, it is a fast-paced, high-responsibility position where attention to detail, accuracy, and professionalism are essential.
You will be responsible for processing applications, applying legislation and Council policies, managing fees and contributions, and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders including internal teams, developers, and even elected officials. You will use Council systems to track and progress applications and be expected to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, grow, and make a meaningful long-term contribution. You will be supported and trained on the job but will still need to bring a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in contributing to the city’s planning and development outcomes.
Please note, this role requires office-based work during the probation period, with the potential for hybrid arrangements thereafter. Rostered shifts may start as early as 7:30am or finish as late as 5:00pm.
To be successful you will have:
- A strong eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of your work.
- Experience (or the ability to quickly learn) in applying legislation and Council policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with a range of stakeholders.
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office and other business systems.
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow within the role.
- A genuine interest in supporting development processes and contributing to the city’s future.
Benefits of working for Council include:
- flexible working hours, and flexible arrangements
- free gym and wellness centre
- award winning superannuation fund
- generous leave provisions
- competitive salary.
