The opportunity

Reporting to the Cyber Defence & Response Manager, the Threat Intelligence & Mitigation Specialist will manage cyber threat intelligence, coordinate vulnerability remediation, forensic investigations, penetration testing and red team exercises. Being a key part of the Cyber Defence Centre you will need to show a demonstrated expertise in threat intelligence methodology, vulnerability management and overall cyber security concepts.


  • Proactively hunt for indicators of compromise and advanced persistent threats (APTs)
  • Handle companywide targeted attacks
  • Oversee forensic investigations and malicious code reverse-engineering
  • Coordinate penetration testing and red team exercises
  • Provide leadership and guidance on intelligence/analytics research to build the necessary controls and infrastructure to provide automated and proactive detection and prevention
  • Be aware of attacker tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs)
  • Provide recommendations for threat intelligence rule/alert tuning
  • Manage and report against system and network compliance management initiatives
  • Coordinate vulnerability assessments
  • Manage cyber threat feeds
  • Drive vulnerability remediation
  • Perform project threat and risk assessments as required
  • Manage and run the threat intelligence platform
  • Formulate threat mitigation strategies and reporting as required
  • Coordinate forensic investigation efforts
  • Provide threat intelligence & mitigation investigation findings to relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinate with system owners to recommend tactical and strategic threat mitigation activities
  • Regularly present updates on threat mitigation and intelligence status and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Provide oversight over host memory forensics.

Knowledge and experience

  • BA or BS / MA or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience delivering security solutions to an enterprise or with a security services organisation
  • 5+ years working within the cyber security field, with emphasis on vulnerability management and testing, threat intelligence, penetration testing and red team exercises
  • Knowledge of common hacking tools and techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, able to coach and mentor other team members
  • General technical skills, includes TCP/IP knowledge, networking and security product experience
  • Desirable certifications include CEH, CISSP, and SANS GCIA or GCIH or similar 
  • Working knowledge of vulnerability management tools, threat intelligence platforms and malware analysis tools
  • Incident management process development and/or incident management experience
  • Forensic analytics experience is desirable.
