Senior Solution Architect

The Solutions and Architecture Team within Core Network Applications department is responsible for the development and planning of end-to-end solutions to enable new network capabilities and for the definition of Core Network capability and architecture evolution in support of TPG business and strategic objectives.

This role in the Solutions and Architecture Team will focus on the development of solutions and the architecture of TPG Mobile Core and Fixed Voice networks and governance of solutions and designs provided by our vendors. The role will also contribute to solution and architecture development in other parts of TPG’s Network. The role will require a close working relationship with the other engineering domains, the broader technology organisation, other business stakeholders, the relevant vendors and industry forums.

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

• Engagement with the TPG Business teams, Technology teams, and external stakeholders to gather, assess, and interpret requirements, concepts, strategies, and ideas and providing the business with the relevant inputs to assess and identify viable products and services to help drive TPG’s competitive advantage.
• Creation and development of highly resilient and secure end-to-end solutions to be provided by the TPG Core Network Applications. Including the capture and analysis of business and technical requirements, technical scoping, solution architecture, identification of impacts, the provision of cost and time estimates. Scoping and refinement of vendor work packages.
• Development of the Core Network Applications annual and long-range plans.
• Maintenance of up-to-date knowledge of the organisation's strategic business plans and possible impacts on enterprise architecture. Ensuring compliance & integration with the Enterprise Architecture. Identifying and investigating opportunities to utilise and integrate emerging technologies to provide cost effective, flexible solutions.
• Provision of solution support and guidance during project delivery.

Knowledge, Capability and Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Telecommunications Industry.
• Minimum of 5 years applied experience in the creation of carrier-grade solutions and architecture development for Mobile Core Network or Fixed Voice Network systems.
• Thorough understanding of the functionality of 4G and 5G Mobile Core is essential:
• Mobile Packet Core (4G, 5G NSA, 5G SA) and Policy Control
• Mobile Network
• Mobile and SIP signalling protocols and flows
• Experience of containerised platform, Orchestration and Automation, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud deployment technologies desirable
• Knowledge of process automation frameworks, CI/CD and API driven networks desirable
• Knowledge of observability in cloud native environments desirable
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Technology strategic thinking
• Strong organizational skills.
• Commercial / business acumen.
• Comfortable in the management of complex technical matters.
