About the opportunity:
- Fixed term contract [12 Months]
- Based in North Sydney
The Financial Accountant – IFRS16 Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with IFRS16 standards, preparing financial statements, and supporting monthly and annual statutory reporting.
This is a very hands-on role where you will be the company expert on all things leases. This position requires a thorough understanding of accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and the ability to work with complex and diverse datasets.
Key Responsibilities and Experience:
- IFRS16 Compliance: Oversee the implementation and ongoing compliance with IFRS16 standards, ensuring accurate reporting and disclosure of lease-related financial information.
- Financial & Statutory Reporting: Compile and analyze financial information to prepare accurate and timely financial statements (including consolidated balance sheets and income statements). Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Monthly Reporting & Audit: Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, provide variance analysis, and support external audit queries for the statutory reporting process.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to streamline financial reporting processes and enhance efficiency and accuracy.
You Will Also Bring:
- CA/CPA/CIMA qualification is essential.
- Strong technical accounting skills, including thorough understanding of IFRS16 standards and familiarity with Australian accounting standards.
- External reporting experience, preferably in a big 4 firm or large ASX-listed entity.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work with complex and diverse datasets and problem solve independently.
- Previous experience with Netsuite and Workday Adaptive is a plus.
