About the opportunity:

  • Fixed term contract [12-month Parental Leave Cover] 
  • Based in North Sydney

The Operations Accountant and Business Partner is a key member of the Finance team responsible for accurate and timely accounting across stock, fixed assets, operational expenditure, and project activity. This role partners closely with Network Operations, the Capital Delivery Team, and Depot Managers to ensure strong financial governance, clear insights, and improved operational decision-making.

This role suits a qualified accountant who is hands-on, analytical, and confident working with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities and Experience:

  • Stock & Cost Accounting: Coordinate half-year and year-end stocktakes, monitor slow-moving and obsolete stock, and prepare provisioning estimates. Complete balance sheet reconciliations for inventory, fixed assets, and intangibles.
  • Asset Management: Manage capitalisation and disposals of assets in NetSuite and oversee monthly depreciation/amortisation.
  • Financial Reporting & Forecasting: Perform month-end activities including journals, accruals, variance analysis, and commentary. Lead budgeting and forecasting for depreciation, amortisation, R&M, and other operational cost lines.
  • Business Partnering: Act as a trusted finance partner to Network Operations, Project Delivery, and Depot Managers, providing clear insights into stock usage, asset activity, operational cost drivers, and project impacts to support decision-making.
  • Process Improvement: Identify process improvement opportunities across inventory, fixed assets, and operational accounting to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and control.

You Will Also Bring:

  • CIMA/CA/CPA qualified (mandatory).
  • 3+ years’ experience in financial or management accounting, ideally with operations or inventory exposure.
  • Strong analytical and technical accounting capability.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and engage operational stakeholders.
  • Curiosity and a proactive mindset—actively seeking to understand processes, ask questions, and challenge assumptions.
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems preferred.
