Overview of our role

The General Manager - Customer and Commercial, is responsible for delivering positive customer and commercial outcomes that drive long term value for the Jemena Gas Network (JGN) including:

  • Ensuring every interaction between Jemena and its customers delivers value (for the customer and JGN), promotes trust and enhances the customer experience.
  • Using data and technology to secure outcomes which enhance financial performance and customer outcomes.
  • Ensuring the appropriate commercial agreements are in place to protect Jemena’s interests and ensure, services, service levels, rights and obligations are clearly defined, documented, understood and achieved.
  • Delivering services to customers, including meter reading, billing, customer escalations, customer connections, abolishments etc. Managing the performance of third parties who perform services on behalf of JGN, ensuring services and service expectations are appropriately defined and are delivered in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring all assets hold appropriate land tenure and access rights and managing engagement with landholders and other third parties seeking access to Jemena easements or assets.
  • Providing leadership, commercial oversight, planning and direction to the Customer and Commercial team and building a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Seeking opportunities, and implementing optimisation and transformation initiatives to improve customer experience and engagement and / or delivering enhanced commercial outcomes.
  • Proactive engagement with customers and key stakeholders to contribute to the development and delivery of the JGN Customer Strategy.

  • Large corporate experience at a GM level with business P&L accountability.
  • Experience in the energy industry.
  • Commercial experience operating in a competitive environment.
  • Contractor engagement and performance management.
  • Proven customer experience leadership.
  • Experience operating within a regulated environment.

Qualifications / certifications & Skills

  • Tertiary qualified – Business, Marketing, Engineering or other suitable qualification.
  • Post graduate qualification in Business desirable.
  • Knowledge of gas market operation and regulatory environment.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of systems and tools to analyse customer data, derive insights and unlock value.
