Brisbane City Council’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traineeship Pathway Program is a deadly opportunity to gain experience in a business environment while working towards a nationally recognised qualification (Cert III in Business).
This traineeship is based with the Recruitment and Talent Acquisition (RTA) team, located in Fortitude Valley. You’ll be part of a dynamic, high-performing business area that drives recruitment for roles across Council. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in administration, learn about end-to-end recruitment, and support meaningful initiatives, including projects to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation across the organisationg.

About the team – Recruitment and Talent Acquisition (RTA)
The RTA team partners across the business to deliver inclusive, efficient, and forward-thinking recruitment services. They work closely with business areas and other People and Culture teams to attract, assess, and onboard talent.
As a trainee, you’ll support the team with general administration and recruitment-related tasks, including:
- Drafting and posting approved job advertisements on internal and external platforms
- Contacting candidates to request and follow up on pre-employment checks
- Assisting with bulk recruitment campaigns, including screening CV’s, scheduling large numbers of interviews or assessment centres, interview coordination and greeting candidates
- Helping with backend system tasks in Humanforce
- Supporting the Talent Consultants, Talent Partners, and Recruitment Managers
- Making phone calls, conducting reference checks, and updating records
- Contributing to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander recruitment projects (such as the upcoming bus trainee intake)

- Able to travel across Brisbane (some locations may not be serviced by public transport).

- A nationally recognised qualification (Cert III in Business).
