The Role

Join Brisbane City Council as a Golf Course Superintendent and lead the maintenance and presentation of one of our premier public golf courses. In this role, you’ll oversee all aspects of course upkeep, including turf management, irrigation systems, tree maintenance and landscaping ensuring the facility meets Australian golf course standards. You’ll coordinate a skilled maintenance team, manage contractors for capital projects, and develop annual maintenance plans that deliver a high-quality recreational experience for patrons.

We’re looking for a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise and a passion for customer service. You’ll liaise with a mix of internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations, while driving performance excellence and safety across your team. With responsibility for budgets, equipment, and compliance, this role offers the opportunity to combine operational leadership with strategic planning in a dynamic outdoor environment.

To be successful you will have:

  • Formal qualifications in Horticulture or Turf Management (Certificate III or higher), with extensive experience in golf course maintenance and team leadership
  • Possession of a current C class Drivers Licence
  • Possession of an ACDC Commercial Spray Operators Licence
  • Proven ability to develop and implement annual course maintenance plans, including turf care, landscaping, and irrigation management
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in mentoring, rostering, and coordinating work crews to achieve high standards
  • Technical expertise in operating and maintaining automated irrigation systems, machinery, and chemical application in compliance with WHS requirements
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders, manage budgets, and deliver projects on time and within scope.
