Our Branch
Construction is responsible for delivering a range of infrastructure projects, such as civil construction and road network maintenance. The Construction branch carries out essential activities including asphalt production, paving, and overseeing major projects.
The Role
As the Senior Technical Officer Civil, you will be responsible for managing civil engineering assets within a regional team of technical and professional staff primarily based at our North and South Regional Business Centres. Responsibilities include delivering maintenance and capital rehabilitation programs for roads, stormwater drainage, and waterways networks. This role will also be responsible for liaising with internal service providers and purchasers and managing the public interface which includes responding to customer requests.
To be successful you will have:
- experience managing civil engineering assets across large road, stormwater, and waterway networks, ensuring compliance with standards and policies
- knowledge of capital works planning, including preparing and managing construction capital listings
- strong financial and reporting skills, including budget management, variation submissions, and performance reporting
- the ability to prepare designs and project briefs for minor road and drainage works.
- excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a customer-focused approach and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- proven customer service capability, including resolving complex enquiries related to roads and drainage
- familiarity with or ability to learn corporate asset management systems
- a team-oriented mindset with the ability to contribute to team direction and performance through giving and providing feedback.
A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (level 5) is desirable not mandatory.
