This opportunity

Primary point of contact for IT commercials and vendor governance for all matters relating to IT. Working with the Senior Commercial & Vendor Governance manager to drive and manage overall IT Opex based on priorities and scope and develop the IT Opex annual plan and LRP plan.


  • Drive and manage Opex planning activities for IT including Long Range Plan (5 year), Annual Plan based on IT aligned strategy, budget, priorities and scope.
  • Collaborate with Finance in the development of the IT OPEX annual plan based on licenses, maintenance and support contractual commitments as well as new items resulting from new platforms or modification to existing ones. Ensure relevant approvals are obtained on time.
  • Coordinate with project teams and coordinators to ensure resource plans remains within budget. This plan includes permanent, hays and vendor resources working directly for IT.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal and Procurement organisations to identify potential synergies and cost savings opportunities; drive to implement them.
  • Continually work to improve planning processes, methodology and approach to secure robust IT planning and financial outcomes
  • Establish regular IT vendor reviews to track spend, project delivery quality, risks, operations quality and escalations.
  • Drive the identification and mitigation of Opex budget risks and govern their management. 
  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement through establishment of governance processes.
  • Mentor direct and virtual teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, expert users, peers and service providers.
  • Prepare monthly /quarterly management reports as required.
  • Drive disciplined process execution and use resources efficiently to maintain compliance and achieve business goals.
  • Establish, implement and enforce supplier obligations and service level agreements to the organisation through Vendor Governance forums.

 Knowledge and experience

  • Degree in Finance or Information Technology with minimum of 10 years of relevant working experience.
  • Vast knowledge in the assessment and costing of projects developed through exposure to a structured System Development Lifecycle.
  • Able to work independently and deliver under pressure.
  • Extensive experience in a competitive IT & N/W environment.
  • Commercial experience in a Telecommunications operational environment would be desirable.
  • Proven experience in long/medium term planning, e.g. 5 Year, annual roadmap and midyear review including high-level scoping and cost estimation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including superior presentation skills and an ability to convey ideas at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to lead others in their thinking and explore new ways to achieve business outcomes.
