This opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Networks Data Engineer with expertise in data engineering and network architecture to join our dynamic team.

Reporting into Head of Network & Infrastructure Integrated Planning, you will combine your Data Engineering background with your knowledge of telecommunications networks to facilitate the development and evolution of Networks planning & forecasting tools & capabilities. This will involve working cross-functionally with various technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure necessary metrics are identified, captured, presented and forecasted appropriately to facilitate the planning process.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Networks & Infrastructure Architects, Business Intelligence and Data & Analytics experts to extract, transform, load and present network data in formats suitable for network & infrastructure planning.
  • Work with Planning Leads and Architects to ensure the definition and provision of appropriate network planning metrics and forecasts to support the planning process.
  • Leverage your knowledge of networks and network architecture to define and source suitable planning metrics from various tools, systems and platforms.
  • Working with technical stakeholders in BI and Data & Analytics teams to support creation of data pipelines for collecting, processing and storing network planning data
  • Utilise best practice tools and techniques to support & evolve network traffic growth and forecasting models, ensuring right-sized dimensioning of the network to support future products and services and to meet network performance KPI’s
  • Facilitate the reporting of key network performance indicators against forecasts to ensure network investment is aligned with network growth and performance.
  • Produce and issue reports and other documentation associated with network growth and demand forecasting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to obtain aligned business forecasts to support network planning.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies in Data & Analytics, AI and Machine Learning with particular relevance to Network Dimensioning & Forecasting Models

Knowledge and experience

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or Network Architect in a Telecommunications Environment
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python & Java
  • Proficient in SQL and database management
  • Experience with Data Visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills
  • Experience with financial concepts is beneficial
  • Experience in building forecasting models using predictive analytics concepts
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
