We have an opportunity available for an experienced Finance Analyst to join us for a 6 month fixed term contract in Commercial Finance who will partner with our Gas Markets group to provide strategic financial/commercial analysis, guidance and advice.
This role will be responsible to partner with the stakeholders to ensure a direct linkage to the Gas Markets Business Plan and financial performance and will be responsible to produce timely and accurate budget and forecasting (1 to 5 years), reporting and variance analysis, commercial and financial analysis including supporting business cases.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Understand the Gas Markets Strategy Business Plans and how they translate into Jemena’s financial performance,
- Provide analysis for business reporting, planning, capital budgeting, business case development, briefings, approvals and investment decisions,
- For month end, prepare journals, provide driver analysis for reporting, balance sheet reconciliations,
- Assist in updating and maintaining the Cost Allocation Methodology, including monitoring causal allocators and drivers,
- Provide assistance to ensure business decisions are grounded in sound financial analysis, accounting treatments, including generating scenario analysis insights .
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
With a tertiary degree in Business, Commerce, Finance or a related disciple as well as a professional qualification (CPA/CA) you will be able to demonstrate your ability to work on strategic finance/commercial issues within a large and complex un/regulated environment.
With advanced computer literacy in particular spreadsheet modelling using MS Excel and Analytics toolsets (Power BI), this role will also require the successful candidate to have demonstrated knowledge, extensive experience in SAP and sound understanding in BI tools (Business Objects and BPC).
You will have knowledge of financial accounting standards and generally accepted accounting principles with the ability to manage and work with a team of both finance and non-finance professionals.
With high EQ and the ability to adjust your style when influencing a broad audience, you will also be confident to provide recommendations to stakeholders based on your findings.
Knowledge of the energy sector and/or utilities industry would be an advantage.
