We’re looking for a Payroll Manager to step into a newly created role and take ownership of payroll across the Group. This is a role for someone who knows the rules inside out but also understands how payroll fits into the bigger picture of a modern, people-centred professional services business.

You’ll work closely with our People and Finance teams, lead key relationships with external payroll partners, and play a hands-on role in shaping how payroll operates as we continue to grow.

The role

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you’ll lead payroll across the Group, ensuring it runs accurately, compliantly and smoothly - even as the business continues to change and scale.

You’ll be trusted to make sound calls, improve processes where they make sense and bring a calm, considered approach to a function where details matter and deadlines don’t move.

What this role really involves

  • Owning end-to-end payroll delivery across the Group, working with our outsourced payroll partners
  • Staying across payroll legislation, tax and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance at all times
  • Partnering closely with People, Finance and other internal stakeholders to align payroll with broader business priorities
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to drive consistency, accuracy and efficiency
  • Maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and security of payroll data and employee records
  • Managing relationships with external payroll vendors and service providers
  • Preparing and submitting WGEA reporting
  • Leading payroll-related projects as the business evolves

Who will thrive here

  • Have prior experience as a Payroll Manager with a strong grasp of Australian payroll legislation
  • Are comfortable working with outsourced payroll providers and multiple stakeholders
  • Bring strong attention to detail and take pride in getting things right
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with both internal teams and external partners
  • Have experience leading or mentoring others and enjoy supporting their development
  • Are adaptable, organised and able to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Have experience with payroll systems such as Pay Metrics and data analysis/reporting
