The Mechanical Assembler working under limited supervision, performs a variety of assembly operations associated with the manufacturing of explosive products, small mechanical or electro-mechanical parts, or equipment housing or large equipment such as engines, engine and PTO drive trains, gas compressors, control equipment, covers/cowlings, related connecting lines, etc.

  • Pay Rate: $23.00/hour
  • Assignment Length: 4-month contract with a high possibility of extension and/or conversion based on performance and other factors.
  • Shift Details: Day shift: 40 hours per week plus overtime | 5:00 am – 1:30 pm normal day | Monday - Friday |Night shift: 40 hours per week | Monday - Thursday, 10 hours per shift | Start time: 3:00 pm but can adjust to suit plus overtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform assembly tasks such as fitting, mounting, alignment, adjusting, operational testing, repairs, in-depth troubleshooting, and diagnosing.
  • Hand-assemble detonating devices and other explosive products with precision and care.
  • Operate and program semi-automated manufacturing presses and automated powder weighing machines.
  • Maintain and issue safety equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Engage actively with the safety culture and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Keep accurate timekeeping records and manage work schedules effectively.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities, ensuring production needs are met.
  • Collaborate with team members, actively engage in learning, and quickly adapt to new processes.
  • Utilize a range of assembly functions, including pressure testing and torquing.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of related assembly experience.
  • Strong commitment to safety and engagement with the safety culture.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and manage changing priorities.
  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to follow requirements and instructions.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or oil and gas environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Be able to use a range of assembly functions including pressure testing and torquing.
  • Willingness to work hard, learn quickly, and be a proactive team player.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team leads and meet expectations.
