We are currently seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Geology Field Technician.
This position is based at the Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, NS. The mine is fully permitted and began production in fall 2017.
Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Geology, your role will be to support mine geology field operations including RC drilling supervision, sample transportation and data collection while ensuring all safe work practices are followed.
Attend daily toolbox talks and ensure proper communication Geology department and Drilling Contractoruality of Grade Control sampling as outlined in the Geology procedures
Supervise the Drilling Contractor and ensure compliance with the company H&S procedures
Attend daily toolbox talks and ensure proper communication Geology department and Drilling Contractor
Sample handling and delivery to the lab
Preparation of sample bags
Data acquisition and data management
Assist the Mine Geologists with field duties
Be a visible safety leader in the field who can follow and improve safety processes
B.Sc. in Geology or a related field of studies
At least 1 year relevant of mineral exploration experience preferable in orogenic gold environments
Experience with Mine Software packages is considered an asset
Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
Proficient in Microsoft Suite especially Excel
Experience with survey equipment considered an asset
