Site Supervisor
Atlantic Operations is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Barbara Limited, an ASX listed gold producer and explorer with mining assets in Canada and Australia.
We are currently seeking a Site Supervisor. This role is a full time, max-term position, reporting to the Site Superintendent and will be based at our Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia.
The Opportunity:
- Directing day-to-day activities of the operations team, monitoring progress and performance.
- Ensuring the application of all relevant regulations, codes, and corporate/site standards to operational activities.
- Conduct training for the employees and contractors, including classroom instruction, practical on-field training, and assessments to evaluate competency.
- Plan and assist the site operations under the guidance of the Superintendent Site or delegate.
- Responsible for maintaining competency for all aspects of the operations from crushing plant to tailings facility and water treatment. As well as all operating equipment (fixed and mobile) to ensure safe use and in support of the operations as required.
- Manage documents and record-keeping in accordance with the requirements of the relevant government legislation and departmental requirements.
- Providing troubleshooting support and liaising with suppliers to facilitate timely services.
- Comply with Company objectives, policies, procedures, safe work practices, relevant Acts and Regulations.
- Maintain company equipment to a safe standard.
- Actively participate to improve and sustain a positive safety culture across the organization.
Our successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Relevant post-secondary schooling from a recognized training institution (graduate certificate/diploma or degree).
- Unencumbered Class 5 driver's license.
- A minimum of 5 years of pertinent experience in an industrial environment.
- Prepared to address complex problems and solutions within a team setting.
- Proficient in utilizing computers, including automated maintenance programs and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to promptly respond to and effectively troubleshoot unforeseen mill shutdowns utilizing available materials and manpower resources.
- Demonstrate leadership, training, and coaching capabilities.
