Utility Operator
Atlantic Operations is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Barbara Limited, an ASX listed gold producer and explorer with mining assets in Canada and Australia.
We are currently seeking 8 Utility Operators to support our Atlantic Operations. These roles are full time, max-term positions, reporting to the Site Supervisor and will be based at our Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia.
The Opportunity:
- Effectively operate any given mill process circuit to achieve defined operating parameters.
- Perform required checks and record detailed operating information and notes in log sheets.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area.
- Be able to conduct training and provide mentorship to trainees.
- Operating industrial, mobile equipment as required for the purposes of maintaining integrity and logistics, supplying of required ore feed to the mill, pulling out of the stockpile tent to create emergency stockpile, loading of trucks, and mill yard and road maintenance.
- Completing daily pre-operational and post-operational inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure safe operations and operational performance.
- Cleaning up with the use of shovels, wheelbarrows, water hoses, pickaxes, jackhammers, rakes, etc. This could be for periods of 12 hours if deemed necessary by the site supervisor.
- Monitoring and observe equipment operating status so that safe and effective operation of the plant is maintained and assess risks posed by identified problems and ensure supervision is aware of concerns and/or potential issues.
- Ensuring required documentation, logs and reports are up to date and complete.
- Performing related duties, including operation of other circuits or processes as required.
Our successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Unencumbered Class 5 driver's license.
- Nova Scotia High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
- Prepared to address complex problems and solutions within a team setting.
- Proficient in utilizing computers, including automated maintenance programs and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to promptly respond to and effectively troubleshoot unforeseen mill shutdowns utilizing available materials and manpower resources.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues within a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, and demanding environment.
- Previous experience in gold processing and/or an industrial environment is desired.
