Summerland Farm is seeking a capable and hands-on Farm Services Leading Hand to support daily operations across our large avocado and macadamia orchards and to lead a small team delivering farm service contracts across the region. This is a practical, leadership focused role suited to someone with strong agricultural experience, confidence with machinery (including tractors and harvest equipment), and a passion for safe, high-quality farm work.

You will support orchard activities such as harvest, pruning, irrigation checks, pest and weed control, and seasonal readiness, while also coordinating and guiding a small crew to deliver off-site commercial farm services. The role requires strong judgement, communication, and the ability to plan and prioritise work in changing weather conditions and seasonal demand.

As part of Summerland Farm’s diverse operations, you’ll work alongside teams in horticulture, tourism, food production, retail, and maintenance gaining exposure to multiple business units and contributing to meaningful employment.

What we’re looking for:

  • Practical experience in farming, horticulture, or orchard operations.
  • Confident machinery operation (tractors, implements, harvest equipment).
  • Ability to lead, coach, and support a small team.
  • Strong communication, reliability, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to adapt to changing weather, seasonal needs, and cross-business work.
  • Fit for outdoor, physical farm work in hot or variable weather.
