Medical Technologist III

Our Santa Clara, CA location currently has an opportunity for a part-time, per diem Medical Technologist III.

Title: Medical Technologist III

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Duration: 12 Month Assignment (Per Diem)

Responsibilities:

• Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
• Studies blood cells, their numbers and morphology.
• Performs blood group, type and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes.
• Analyzes test results and enters findings in computer.
• Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.
• Engages in medical research under direction of Chief Medical Technologist.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance of assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
• Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data.
• Records on instrument logs any repairs, replacement and maintenance needed of equipment.
• Trains and supervises students.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required, Master's preferred.
• 5+ years in comprehensive and continuing experience in following standard diagnostic procedures.
• Current State of California certified CLS/MLS or national certification equivalent (ASCP or AMT)
• 2-3 years of Hematology experience, specifically in blood and Body Fluid cell identification microscopically.
• Required to pass the Abbott Hematology qualification competency (blood cell ID) with at least 80%.
