By joining our experienced and innovative QLD rail team, you would be instrumental and be an integral part of the continued, successful delivery of signaling projects within our range of diverse rail project portfolio within Queensland and beyond.

Our Transport and Infrastructure team leverages the latest technology and a culture of innovation across the planning, design, and management disciplines to deliver connectivity, mobility, and resiliency to Australian communities.

Our recent projects include Cross River Rail and other supporting projects (QLD), as well as Inland Rail (Nationally), and Southern Program Alliance (VIC).

As part of our QLD Rail telecommunications team, you will provide technical expertise in both the conventional and digital space. WSP is looking for a leader who appreciates the importance of maintaining the team’s capability for conventional telecommunication design, whilst supporting the development of new technology.

With rail expertise, project management, and a consultative and solution based client focus, you will be responsible for identifying and delivering pursuits, understanding commercials, design and delivery of multifaceted rail projects.

As we are a national business model, you will also have the opportunity to work on both local and interstate projects and for a broad range of government and private sector clients. 


About you

  • Proven extensive experience in telecommunications engineering disciplines, with broad experience in delivering complex telecommunications projects in the Australian rail environment from feasibility through to detailed design and implementation
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in detailed design and delivery of telecommunications systems including backbone cabling, station communications systems and radio systems are essential.
  • Ideally experience of construction staging, testing and commissioning along with signalling interface desirable.
  • Excellent report writing and oral communication skills are required..
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to graduates and engineer levels on a range of projects.
  • Manage a variety of projects ensuring delivery and quality to a high standard.
  • Project manage and/or design manage project work as necessary
  • A strong work ethic, self-starter and ability to relate well to both work colleagues within a team environment and external parties.
  • The right to work in Australia.

  • Working towards Chartered status CPENG & RPEQ viewed favorably
  • Typically, extensive experience as a Principal Telecommunications Engineer
  • Local experience and competence essential
  • Built technical capability of others (training & mentoring) and transferred technical expertise within the organisation
