WSP are seeking expressions of interest for a Lead Cost Control Engineer to fulfil a 12 month fixed-term contract. Become a leader, thereby enhancing your capabilities and the reputation of WSP’s Mining, Infrastructure & Project Delivery team in Adelaide.

Mining

Our Mining team helps clients optimise performance, boost profitability, and operate responsibly. We have a comprehensive understanding of the mining industry and current issues including decarbonisation and understand future ready strategies are critical to countering these issues, capitalising on opportunities, and adding value to businesses.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain project budgets and forecasts, including the preparation of cost estimates and the identification of potential cost overruns.
  • Monitor project costs while ensuring that they remain within the approved budget.
  • Review invoices and expense reports, analysing cost data and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including project managers, engineers and other stakeholders to ensure projects costs are effectively managed and controlled.
  • Provide regular cost analysis and reporting to project teams and management.
  • Manage change orders and contract variations, ensuring they are properly documented, approved and incorporated into the project budget.
  • Develop and implement cost control procedures, including cost reporting, cost forecasting, and cost management.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies, including local and international accounting standards, tax regulations and company policies.

About you:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Those certified in Project Management preferred.
  • Proven experience within budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to analyse project data, prepare cost estimates and reports, and communicate with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to cost control.
  • Familiarity with project management software including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and cost management tools like SAP, Oracle, or MS Excel.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills to manage budgets, coordinate resources, and direct project teams.
