We are currently seeking a Recruitment Officer to join our recruitment team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. To support the Human Resources Superintendent to deliver Recruitment & Onboarding Processes and to provide efficient and timely Human Resources support and advice to St Barbara Simberi Exploration & Operations.
Everyone at St Barbara Limited is required to understand and act in accordance with St Barbara’s values and policies and meet all relevant internal and external compliance obligations. The role incumbent and manager will identify and review the specific compliance requirements of the role.
The Opportunity
Technical accountabilities
- Maintaining a fair and consistent application of Human Resources policies, procedures and processes.
- Coordination of all People Systems and Processes and provide advice to stakeholders as appropriate on (Recruitment, On-boarding, Work Performance, Career Development, Exit the Company, Training and Development, Discipline, Leave and Workers Compensation).
- Ensuring the end-to-end recruitment process by utilising the recruitment software package is undertaken in a timely manner.
- Undertaking engagement of candidates for Simberi Exploration & occasionally for Operations
- Supporting the establishment of the desired culture across the Company.
- Taking initiative and application of problem-solving techniques.
- Coordinate all Job advertisements, all various media mediums, professional social networks or via internal recruitment process for Simberi Locals.
- Ensuring that all vacant roles are filled asap and provide regular updates.
- Ensure Weekly Recruitment reports are completed in a timely manner and submitted to Head of Departments.
General
- Be able to work in a close-knit team environment. Hand over notes must be concise, accurate and up to date. If possible, the handover notes are to be emailed to the incoming crew member before departing for break.
Scheduling accountabilities
- Managing the best use of your own time to achieve the required outcomes
- Championing Pre-start meetings while on roster and conduct HR Inductions for New Hires and Refreshers for permanent staff.
People accountabilities
- Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
- Managing outputs and development of the team and all Team Members.
- Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate actions to develop in current role and for future roles.

Essential
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
- 2~3 years of relevant work experience in Human Resources/Training and Development
- A tertiary qualification or TAFE qualification in Human Resources related discipline
- On-line and manual Recruitment experience
- Have a high level of attention to detail.
- Highly effective interpersonal and written communication skills
- High energy with a positive attitude
- Build and maintain relationships across all levels of the business.
- Previous relevant work experience in mining or heavy industry, on site
Desirable
- Exposure to recruitment in Heavy Industry or Mining
