We are currently seeking a Contracts Administrator to join our team. This is a permanent full-time position for our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea; this is a 21/14 Roster.

The position will initially be based on site at Simberi, however in the future will be based in Port Moresby.

Reporting to the Contracts & Procurement Superintendent, the Contracts Administrator is responsible for developing, administering and evaluating international, national and local landowner Contracts. They will ensure that all parties understand the terms of the contract, while complying relevant Papua New Guinean laws. This role will provide support to the Contract Specialist and liaise as required with the Community Relations Business Development Officer in relation to Local and Landowner Contracts and new business opportunities.

The opportunity

 Role accountabilities

  • Ensuring own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
  • Prepare tender documentation and administer tender process, through to contract awarding and execution stage.
  • Coordinate with end user department to formulate scope of work for contract draft
  • Involved in drafting and execution of local landowner contracts
  • Negotiate contract terms with internal and external business partners
  • Explaining terms and conditions to managers and landowner contractors
  • Where required, review invoices and claims and ensure compliance with contract
  • Reviewing and updating existing contracts and maintaining contract register
  • Constantly maintain and update contract master register to ensure that contracts are managed in accordance with the signed agreements
  • Maintains and verify all site-based contractors to maintain current and valid insurance coverage in line with company requirements.
  • Monitor and following up on contract, variation and insurance expiration dates and communicate to team
  • Coordinate onboarding of new suppliers and ensuring submission of statutory compliance documents for vendor establishment
  • Maintain contracts filing system to ensure accurate and up to date record keeping of information
  • and effortless retrieval
  • Scheduling meetings with contractors and recording meeting minutes for circulation
  • Manage effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the objectives pertaining to the Commercial Department
  • Contributing to an effective team/crew
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions

Essential

 Desirable

  • Mining industry experience
  • Proven work experience as a Contract Administrator or relevant role 
  • Qualifications in law, finance or contract management
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to also apply
