We are currently seeking a Mobile Maintenance Storeman to join our team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 15/13 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the Storeman is responsible for the accurate and timely provision of stores and logistical support functions for all employees utilising a limited number of awards and agreement.

Everyone at St Barbara Limited is required to understand and act in accordance with St Barbara’s values and policies and meet all relevant internal and external compliance obligations.

The role incumbent and manager will identify and review the specific compliance requirements of the role.

The opportunity

Planning/Scheduling 

  • Ensure product support in supply of mining materials and consumables by providing prompt and efficient service in store issuance by completed requisition of goods to authorized personnel.
  • Ensure that requisitioning of issued stock materials and submission for approval.
  • Ensure that all Dangerous Goods and hazardous materials are stored in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety, MSDS and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain equipment, materials, and storage facilities in a clean, tidy and serviceable condition in accordance with recommended operating practices including temperature sensitive goods and ensure effective use of shelf space.
  • Monitor stock for optimum and minimum stock levels and ensure that the physical stock held within the store is consistent with inventory.
  • Lift, carry, unpack, and check quantities of supplies against purchase orders and delivery dockets.
  • Undertake stocktakes and inspections and audits via Warehouse Inspection Checklists. Implement actions to resolve identified hazards.
  • Ensure the reporting of inventory and goods receivable status.
  • Secure and maintain the store to prevent unauthorized entry.
  • Oversee and assist in training of stores staff.
  • Include other duties as required by the Workshop Supervisor.

 People Management

  • Ensure staff are supplied with suitable resources so they can perform their duties as required
  • Provide direction and act as a technical reference point for all tools and equipment managed and maintained within the store.
  • Be responsible for implementing and ongoing monitoring of tooling provided for staff use and it return to the store.
  • Be accountable for the initiation of any repair actions needed or missing tooling concerns with direct escalation and reporting to the supervisor
  • Promote and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Procedures through consistently demonstrating and encouraging safe work practices.

 Reporting

  • Ensure that all reporting required meets the legislative standards and is completed and distributed on time.

 Budget Preparation/Cost Management Control

  • Provide input for the work unit for budget preparation process.
  • Ensure that excessive or undue usage of materials is kept under control to align with company budgets.

 Compliance/Quality Control

  • Promote and adhere to the company’s internal methodologies, policies, procedures, and standards by consistently maintaining a high quality of work across all allocated functions.
  • Interpret legislation, government standards and agreements. Provide input/informed commentary, improvement opportunities and areas of risk to management.
  • Be accountable for the quality of work output from the unit/department through an ongoing monitoring and audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and company standards through training and development of staff and promoting by example.

 Administration Functions

  • Ensure all administration functions and tasks associated with the position are undertaken and completed in a timely and efficient manner.

 Occupational, Health & Safety

  • Record and report any undesired events, unsafe practices or near misses to the supervisor.
  • Comply with established OH&S policies and practices.
  • Take responsibility for reporting of incidents, including any injury or near miss to the OH&S Department and Safety Committee in a timely manner.
  • Regularly communicate with subordinates regarding new OH&S initiatives and OH&S statistics.

 Environment

  • Comply with established environmentally sustainable measures so as to not adversely impact on the natural fauna, flora, freshwater resources and marine life within the bounds of Simberi Island.

 Community Relations

  • Work with and develop the community through the support of company initiatives.

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
  • Excellent PC skills with experience using electronic accounting systems, stores management, cataloguing, inventory, and receipting computer systems.
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience working in the mining industry.
  • Current Driver’s license and forklift ticket.
  • Ability to plan work effectively and efficiently with a minimum of supervision and to set priorities.
  • Punctual attendance for all rostered shifts.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with other staff members to achieve stated responsibilities and duties.
  • Actively participate and promote a safe working environment, participate in Departmental safety meetings, and display a safety conscience attitude in accordance with the OH&S policies and procedures, and safe working practices.
  • Good written and verbal skills, ability to provide reports to management on product purchases.
  • Awareness of standards, safety and general mining products, equipment, and consumables.
  • Prepared to work out of hours and shift work as required
