We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Commissioning Officer to undertake an Advanced Diploma of ESI – Power Systems over a four-year program which will enable you to obtain industry skills and knowledge under the supervision of qualified and experienced professionals, while also attending TAFE to complete your certification.

The location for this traineeship will be based in South Dandenong however this is a field-based role so you will mostly be working out in the field. There is the potential for large amounts of travel throughout the state and your roster could vary from being 5:2 or 11:3 depending on project requirements.

During the program, you will be a valued member of our team and will experience a variety of work environments within the electricity supply industry which will enhance your skills and career development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities that you will learn along the way include

  • Planning brownfield and greenfield 22kV-500kV Substation project testing and commissioning activities
  • Planning and executing outage activities
  • Tracking and reporting progress according to the project commissioning schedule
  • Protection, control relay, switchgear, CT and CV testing
  • IEC61850 system testing
  • Drawing, ITP and defect / RFI management
  • Provide diagnostic testing and maintenance services on a wide variety of electrical protection and control relays & equipment

About You

This is an exciting time for our industry and we would love to be able to share this journey with someone who is committed and eager to learn. When you complete the program successfully, you will have completed all competencies for an Advanced Diploma of ESI – Power Systems.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Flexibility with the ability to undertake regular intrastate travel when required
  • A minimum age of 18 and a drivers licence by the time you commence the traineeship in January 2025
  • An enjoyment of being hands on with a mind for maths and physics
