Project Engineer

Who We Are

Zinfra is a leading partner in the design, build, operation and maintenance of Australia’s energy and utilities infrastructure. Delivering a $1B portfolio annually, the work we do is essential to bringing energy to our communities safely and reliably, while powering the nation’s energy transition. With a diverse workforce of more than 2,300, we expertly deliver our services across Australia.

About the Opportunity

At Zinfra, we’re building the energy infrastructure that powers Australia’s future — and we know that how we work is just as important as what we build. This role is in our Projects & Construction team where the projects involve building new gas infrastructure or managing complex non-routine maintenance projects on existing gas assets across Australia.

We’re looking for a Project Engineer who brings curiosity, collaboration, and compassion to complex engineering challenges. Someone who thrives in a supportive team environment and enjoys turning technical vision into practical, sustainable outcomes.

This is more than a technical role — it’s an opportunity to influence, connect, and lead across disciplines, while being part of a company that celebrates growth, safety, and inclusion.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Project Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our project delivery — connecting people, processes, and purpose to deliver exceptional results.

You will:

  • Partner closely with the Project Manager and Operations Manager to plan, coordinate, and deliver engineering projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Support the management of design consultants to ensure quality outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Champion collaboration, encouraging open communication and continuous improvement across your team and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to planning and design — verifying engineering specifications, ensuring compliance, and preparing clear, detailed work plans.
  • Manage financial tracking and forecasting with transparency and integrity.
  • Identify and mitigate risks while supporting a safe, inclusive, and high-performing environment.
  • Ensure all relevant HSEQ and operational documentation is available and suitable prior to commencement of work
  • Build and nurture strong client and stakeholder relationships, keeping everyone informed, engaged, and supported throughout the project journey.

About You

You’re a confident communicator, a natural collaborator, and a problem-solver who enjoys finding smarter, safer, and more sustainable ways to deliver results.

Your background includes:

  • A degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience delivering capital works or large-scale engineering projects.
  • Strong planning and coordination skills across multiple disciplines.
  • A track record of influencing outcomes through relationships — not just authority.
  • Familiarity with managing or working alongside design consultants.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.

Why Join Us?

This is more than just a technical role—this is an opportunity to grow your impact in a supportive, values-led environment. You’ll be joining a team that values trust, clarity, care, and collaboration—where diverse perspectives are welcomed, and every voice matters.

We champion equal opportunity employment with commitments to gender equity and First Nations representation. We welcome applications from people of all culturally diverse group, all ages, differing abilities, the LGBTIQ+ community, neurodiverse individuals, and those with multiple or intersecting identities.

We believe Zinfra is a great place to belong—but don’t just take our word for it; hear our team members share what working at Zinfra means to them.
