We have an exciting opportunity for 2 x Apprentice Electricians to undertake a Certificate III in Electrotechnology over a four-year program which will enable you to obtain industry skills and knowledge under the supervision of qualified and experienced professionals, while also attending TAFE to complete your certification.

The location for these apprenticeships will be based at Dandenong South however these roles involve large amounts of travel throughout the state depending on project requirements. When travelling, you will be working away from home on a 11:3 roster (11 days on, 3 days off) and will be working away from home during your 11 days on. A generous Living Away From Home Allowance (LAHA) will be provided.

During the program, you will be a valued member of our team and will participate in workplace and worksite rotations, experiencing a variety of work environments within the electricity supply industry which will enhance your skills and career development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Select, install, commission, fault find and maintain high and low voltage electrical equipment in substations pertaining to the electricity transmission and distribution system
  • Operate plant, equipment and tools associated with the construction and maintenance of the transmission and distribution network
  • Switching and operating work associated with high voltage and low voltage network assets where authorised and in accordance with network procedures
  • General duties such as yard work, ground work at job sites, administration, traffic control (where trained) and stores

About You

This is an exciting time for our industry and we would love to be able to share this journey with someone who is committed and eager to learn. When you complete the program successfully, you will have completed all competencies for a Certificate III in Electrotechnology – Electrician and all licencing exams associated with the Electricians “A Class” licence.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • A pre-apprenticeship qualification (Certificate II Electrotechnology) will benefit your application but is not essential
  • The ability to be able to undertake regular intrastate travel
  • Either have a current drivers licence or have obtained a drivers licence by January 2025
  • A good positive attitude and a willingness to work as a team will no doubt see you succeed in your new role
